High-Voltage Interface Solutions Overview

High Voltage Interface products provide level translation and amplification, connecting low voltage control circuits to other high voltage circuits for one to multiple signals. Products vary from simple MOSFETs of different types to complex HV ICs. Different digital interfaces include simple digital inputs, to more complex protocols such as SPI, I2C, with data rates to 10s of MHz. The more complex IC products enable serial to parallel conversion functionality, supporting voltages to 300V, with output channel count ranging from as few as 4 to as many as 128, and other features.

MOSFETs – Interface

Depletion-Mode N-Channel

 

Low current MOSFETs, (mA a couple Amps,) intended for voltage regulation, level translation, bypass, and protection in systems. Depletion devices are normally-on devices, using a negative voltage to turn off, typically used to source current or voltage signals. Voltages range Volts to 100s of Volts, in smaller SMD and leaded packages.

The Source Arrays enable serial to parallel conversion, supporting voltages from -35 to -85V with output channel count of 8 and 64, and other control and protection features.  MOSFET outputs source current from mA for capacitive loads, and Darlington versions to source hundreds of mA for more inductive loads, including relays.

HV Driver Amplifier Arrays provide level translation and high voltage amplifiers for multiple signals. Different digital interfaces include simple digital inputs, to more complex protocols. Liquid Lens Driver

 

The HV892 liquid lens driver is a high voltage driver targeted for driving variable liquid lenses for various optical applications. The HV892 features an I2C interface, and is compatible with 40VRMS to 60VRMS lenses. The integrated charge pump boost generates the necessary high voltage with no external inductors or diodes.

The High Side Current Monitors transfer high-side current measurement voltages to a ground referenced output with a voltage gain. The measurement voltage typically originates at a current sense resistor which is located in a “high side” circuit, such as the positive supply line.

High Voltage Fault Protection ICs are switches are designed to protect system output power supplies against over-current or short circuit conditions. In protection mode, they limit the load current. They are essentially normally closed switches with a foldback current capability, with a rated withstand voltage capability.
