Microchip offers a complete line of 8-bit MCUs, 16-bit DSCs/MCUs and 32-bit MCUs to meet the needs of high-performance, embedded applications using the CAN bus. Microchip’s portfolio of 8-, 16- and 32-bit MCUs and 16-bit DSCs with integrated CAN 2.0B functionality allows execution of complex control algorithms and network interfaces on the same device. On-chip peripherals include A/D converters, comparators, 10/100 Ethernet MAC, hi-speed USB 2.0 Host/Device/OTG, motor control PWMs, CTMUs, USART (RS485, RS232,LIN) and Master I2C/SPI/I2S.

CoaXpress®

CoaxPress™

 

CoaXPress is the new standard for high performance machine vision systems. CoaxPress is the state of the art method of connecting high performance machine vision cameras to Frame Grabbers or video servers.

 

CoaXPress operates over standard 75-ohm coax cable. It currently supports up to 6.25Gbit/s from the camera to the Frame Grabber. A lower bandwidth signal, up to 20Mbit/s for the control functions can be sent the other way over the same cable. Simultaneously, power is supplied over the coax – to power the camera. The CoaXPress standard allows for a number of cables to be used in parallel, for example, 4 cables offering 25Gbit/s image data streaming.

Reliable, Low-Cost Networking

 

Low-cost Local Interconnect Network (LIN) systems are used throughout the automobile in comfort, powertrain, sensor, and actuator applications.

 

The modular Microchip LIN family ranges from simple transceiver ICs to complex system basis chips with LIN transceiver, voltage regulator and watchdog. At higher integration levels, the Microchip System-in-Package (SIP) solutions feature an Atmel AVR® , an ARM Cortex M0+ microcontroller or PIC microcontroller, LIN transceiver, voltage regulator and watchdog in a single package.

USB-C™ Power Delivery Controllers

 

The ubiquitous and interoperable USB port has evolved from its initial use as mainly a data interface and has become the primary means of charging mobile electronic devices. USB Port Power Controllers

 

Microchip’s port power controllers provide a single USB port power switch capable of up to 2.5 Amps of continuous current as well as a USB 2.0 compliant data switch. When a portable device is plugged in, it can auto-cycle through up to seven preloaded charger emulation profiles until charging commences. The embedded profiles are compatible with BC1.2 CDP, DCP, YD/T-1591 as well as most Apple® and RIM® portable devices. It also allows portable device charging when an application or host is in standby or in a sleep state.

Fifth generation of highly integrated, full featured Hi-Speed USB 2.0 transceiver based on Microchip’s proven ULPI interface supports a wide variety of different reference clock frequencies, as well as accepting clocking from crystal/resonators and the ULPI 60 MHz clock-in mode. The family includes support for battery charging within traditional QFNs and very small formfactor, wafer-level chip scale packages (WLCSP). Eliminates the need for external VBus over-voltage protection ICs, USB switches, electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection devices, and reference oscillators, minimizing eBOM part count and conserving valuable board space.

USB is expected to be a preferred means to easily connect multiple displays to desktop and mobile PCs as well as to enable shared computing scenarios that are gaining popularity in classrooms. USB 3.0 or “SuperSpeed USB” offers a 10x data transfer speed increase and for the first time allows consumers to stream uncompressed high-definition content to their display via the USB port.

 

ViewSpan™ is a system solution consisting of a discrete USB device controller and enabling software running on a USB host system. The solution is offered as ViewSpan and ViewSpan5G for USB 2.0 High Speed and USB 3.0 SuperSpeed applications respectively. Powered by unique content-aware, bandwidth-efficient, and resolution optimized video processing algorithms, ViewSpan and ViewSpan 5G deliver smooth high-definition video, vivid static images, and clear text to large consumer and commercial displays up to 2048 x1152 resolution.
