Microchip’s BLE SoC and MCUs are optimized for battery-powered applications with a wide 1.8V to 4.3V voltage range and sub-1µA sleep current and sub-3mA / 4mA TX/RX current (@3.6V, 0dBm Pout). This results in ultra-low-power BLE advertising and connection events, with the industry’s lowest electric charge drawn from the battery for each event. This extends battery life by 2 to 4x compared to existing BLE solutions.

 

Ultra-Small Form Factor

MiWi™ Protocol

Low-cost Embedded Wireless Connectivity for Commercial and Smart Home Networks

 

Developed to enable low-cost, commercial and smart home networks, MiWi is used in applications such HVAC systems and Alarm sensors where reliable sub-GHz connections and long battery life are needed.  MiWi also runs in the 2.4GHz worldwide ISM band.   The MiWi protocol runs on the IEEE 802.15.4 RF Physical Layer.

 

The MiWi stack offers a significantly smaller foot-print relative to the open standard based ZigBee® compliant protocol stack.  This enables operation in microcontrollers with smaller memory / lower cost.

RFID involves contactless reading and writing of data into an RFID tag’s nonvolatile memory through an RF signal. Low frequency RFID devices typically consist of a transponder (tag) and reader.

 

To help you reach the extensive vertical markets that rely on RFID, we offer a broad range of contactless products. Our transponders operate within the 100 to 150kHz bandwidth range. Our RFID chips are suitable for the smallest devices and require NO external components, lowering your tag costs.

 

You can choose from a broad range of read or read/write devices, available as identification ICs (die on wafer, with optional gold bumps, or packaged die, e.g., micromodule, XDFN package) or as an entire transponder.

The SAMD21 MCU includes the API and an SPI driver for interfacing to the onboard Wi-Fi SoC.
